Not Every Day Is Good But...

The pit of my stomach churns with emotion...

And the blues surround my mind with thoughts that pull me down...

Not every day is good but there is something lurking among the shadows that is trying to reach out.

Have you experienced days when your emotions are taking you from one negative thought to another, and no matter how hard you try, the emptiness in the bottom of your stomach seems to be caving in on itself?

You may wonder how to break free from such anxious thoughts patterns, as you try to put on some soothing music to distract you, and a tear seeps out from your eye, as another thought bombards the melodies that are trying to lift you.  You turn the music off, and try to watch an uplifting video or read an excerpt of a book that you've enjoyed in the past.  Nothing is working, as you feel like a magnet is pulling you into the ground, trying to keep you from rising.  You decide that perhaps your emotions need to be released, so you walk by a mirror and the negative self-talk escalates even more, until you burst out into full sobbing, as all the mistakes you've made come barreling out of nowhere.  Exhaustion kicks in and all you want to do is crawl back into bed, bury yourself within the protection of the blankets, and pretend the outside world doesn't exist.

You know from experience that you've ridden this wave before, and eventually it will break.  You realize how many times you've survived such internal turmoil, that your score is 100%, up until today, so you are confident that this too shall pass.

In the meantime, you just want relief... to feel a little better than you have been all day.

Escape to the world of nature, and clear your mind.  Push out the negative thoughts by letting them come, and slowly guiding them by surrounding them in a bubble and watch each float away without persistence.  Every unfortunate memory that seeps into your mind, should be shrouded in a mesh of enclosed, mental fabric, as you send it down an invisible stream to catch a current flowing away from you.  Continue to do this over and over again, as you bring your awareness to the trees, the grass, the sunshine or clouds, the sound of the breeze or raindrops, and the temperature surrounding you in this moment of exposure to the elements.  You are embraced by a glorious picture of nature, even among the weeds that rear their head to the sun, basking in its presence, as you do.  You look past the man-made, to the creation of life in the bumble bee's wing span, or the chorus of a bird chirping its song to an audience, even when no one listens.  You feel the world surrounding you with its beauty, that shines ever so brightly, even when war and devastation is flourishing... nature just "is"...

... And so, "is", the person you are.  The broken down, emotional human being that is sitting among the world, and not knowing where to go next, or what to do...

... But you are here... in this moment... searching for answers of how to be better, how to be less emotional, and how to look at things differently, so you don't see the suffering, the hurt, the anger, and pain that can be contained in all our actions and experiences of the past.

Just sit and be... for a moment.  Let life surround you, without any influence of who you are, who you should be, must be... you do not have to be anything right now... just here.

Be here, more often... especially on days like this.
