Reiki: What Is It And How Can It Help Me?

Reiki is a soothing practice that is a beneficial healing art and wellness modality.

Reiki is an ancient form of Japanese Healing.

Everything in the universe is made up of energy, right down to the chair that you sit upon.  Even though objects seem to appear solid, when broken down to a molecular structure, we know those items are made up of energy with atoms, protons, and neurons.  This is true of our physical bodies as well.  If we were to look at our hand under a powerful microscope, we would see the cells vibrating and in constant motion. Now, we could go even further into the explanation of Quantum Physics and particles, but that is a more in-depth discussion that requires you to research outside of this article, as I'd only like to give you a basis before describing how Reiki works.

Reiki refers to the Universal Life Force Energy that is all around us, and it is harnessed by the Practitioner in order to direct that energy into the chakras (energy centres) and energetic body that we all possess, whether we know it or not.  When we are able to target this energy, the Practitioner acts like a conduit that allows the healing properties to flow through them, and using their hands can gravitate that energy to specific areas on the client.

A Reiki session is non-invasive, as many Practitioners use a hands-off approach, so there is no physical contact.  As energy is able to penetrate without touching, the person receiving the treatment can simply enjoy relaxation while the Practitioner clears the energetic body of impurities and balances the energy centres.  Here is a clinic trial article about Nontouch Biofield Therapy for more information.

For those dealing with overwhelming emotions tied to the loss of a loved one, a Grief Reiki session can focus on the emotional energy that is linked to loss.  Using the Sei Hei Ki Emotional Symbol for Reiki, the Practitioner will work to clear the energy to reduce blockages, and help align the emotional instabilities caused by the pain of loss.

If you are new to Reiki, or do not understand the process of clearing energy, take a look at the research conducted by Dr. Masuro Emoto who experimented with water crystals.  By infusing positive affirmations and music to one glass of water vs downgrading the other by hateful words, over the freezing process, the crystal designs were extraordinary.  Read more about his work in this article, HERE.

Even though you may not understand everything that takes place within your body and environment, the best approach is to be open to learning and experiencing new methods.  In this way, you will find the areas that work for you, to help ease the emotional challenges that face you in your personal world.
